Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh!

This months workshop was a two part workshop helping build and explain why resilience is important for our community. And what better stage to embedd this than in childhood!

The workshop was broken down into two parts, the first for parents and carers where they were presented with a psycho-education workshop and the second for the children to explore what resilience means by creating an 'All About Me' image through a creative psychotherapy lens.

We began the second workshop by sharing an image of Shaheed Bhai Anokh Singh Babbar and deatiling the story of their torture and shaheedi. Building resilience in our children, we feel, means being open and honest about our history and that means detailing the details of what our shaheeds had experienced.

Our workshoppers were then asked to draw, colour and label what makes them resilient, encouraging them to focus on their Sikhi saroop.

We recognise that as Sikhs (children and adults), our identity causes us to stand out and be different, unique and go gainst the grain. This can be challenging for Sikh children nagivigating through childhood and sometimes standing out may feel difficult and this is why we felt it is important for us as a community to use our skills and our love for our Reht to help offer support and ways to work through these feelings.

We hope you enjoyed attending and reading!
