Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh

This month we decided to start a very special series focusing on the history of Harmandir Sahib. Harmandir sahib is such a special place for Sikhs evoking strong emotions of love, peace and serenity but also a constant reminder of our strength, prowess and fight. Sikhs have always been at the forefront of standing up to opression, for others and ourselves. Harmandir Sahib with its four entrances, too represents standing against the opressed; open to everyone, from all walks of life, irrospective of caste, creed and truly showing the world that Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Mahraj is Jagat Guru, Guru for the whole world.

We started off with Guru Ram Das Ji's Sarovar and the establishment of Amritsar Sahib. Then we discussed how Guru Arjan Dev Ji completed the creation of Harmandir Sahib, from laying the foundation within the Sarovar to revealing Sri Aad Granth Sahib (First form of Guru Granth Sahib Ji) for the first time at Harmandir Sahib.

We had such fun sharing what we all know about Harmandir Sahib. We shared our experiences of visits there with family and then watched a video on how langar is created. It was magical learning that Harminder Sahib is the world's largest free kitchen, open 24 hours, 7 days a week all year round!! Truly left some of our workshoppers in awe.

To finish off, we asked our workshoppers to create an article of why they feel someone should visit Harmandir Sahib. We asked them to think about anything that they have learned, but also what they feel is special about Harmandir Sahib.

As always we had an amazing Sunday sharing and learning together. We hope to continue going through the history of Harmandir Sahib and hope to see you all next workshop!
